What we store with each test

• Your answers and the time spent on each puzzle
• Your score, and when the test started and finished
• Which puzzle set and page version you had
• Whether your browser has finished the test before
• Your answer to "first time?", and the score from another IQ test, if you give them
• Your country and device type (phone, tablet or computer)
• The name of the site that linked you here, if your browser gives it

We don't store your IP address. It's used for a moment to find your country and to limit calls per connection, then dropped.

What others can see

Stats shows the latest tests: score, country, which puzzles were solved, and how long ago. Everything else on Stats is totals.

Your result has its own link, shown only to you. Anyone you give it to sees the result: the score, the IQ estimate, which puzzles were solved, and the date.

What stays on your device

Your browser keeps the test in progress and your latest result, how many times it has finished the test, and per tab the site that linked you here and a copy of the public stats. Clearing your browser's data for this site removes them.

Who handles the data

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site, as any web host does. Tests are saved in our database at Supabase, in Frankfurt, Germany. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn't identify you. The fonts and images come from this site itself, so apart from Cloudflare your browser doesn't contact other services. Cloudflare, and Google for email, may handle data outside the EU, under the EU's standard contractual clauses.

Why we hold it, and for how long

We use this data to score tests and publish the stats, which is what the site is for (legitimate interest, GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). You can object by writing to us. We keep tests for as long as Matrix 40 runs.

If you email us

If you write to contact@gamestairs.net, we use your address and message only to reply, and keep them only as long as that's useful. We don't share them or add you to any list. Our email is provided by Google Workspace.

Who we are, and your rights

Matrix 40 is run by Gamestairs OÜ, registry code 17624696, Tartu, Estonia. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Tests carry no name, so we can't tell which one is yours unless you send us its link. Write to contact@gamestairs.net. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).
